Captain John Andrew (1846-1918) worked as a shipbuilder, and lived on 114 Chisholm Street.

Originally from Dundonald, Scotland, John immigrated to Canada with his family as a young boy.

He was the brother of Captain James Andrew (1844-1930), who was also a shipbuilder. John built and commanded several ships, such as the "Baltic" (which was unfortunately wrecked in 1894).
